On 27-Sep-2009 Roman Polanski aged 76 was arrested in Zurich Switzerland on a warrant issued in Ameriva 31 years ago when he skipped bail.

Polanski had had sexual intercourse with a minor.

Polanski had committed the offence of 'Statutory Rape'.

His victim was a 13 year old child, Samantha Geimer who subsequently sued Polanski and reached an undisclosed settlement, believed to involve an agreement not to testify against Polanski who was 45 at the time of the rape.

Astonishingly the French Culture Minister and it seems his President believe that children should be permitted to sell Justice and absolve paedophiles.
In Paris, Culture Minister Frederic Mitterrand said that he was in contact with French President Nicolas Sarkozy "who is following the case with great attention and shares the minister's hope that the situation can be quickly resolved."

Mitterrand added that he was "dumbfounded" by Polanski's arrest, adding that he "strongly regrets that a new ordeal is being inflicted on someone who has already experienced so many of them."

How fortunate that Polanski's wealth was sufficient to buy off his victim, skip Justice in America and be sheltered against extradition for his assault and rape.

The Polanski rape case was a sensation when it broke: He was arrested for having sex with the girl, whom he had hired as a model for a photo shoot at Jack Nicholson's house whilst he was allegedly abscent.

Polanski was accused of giving the child part of a Quaalude pill and champagne, taking her into a hot tub and having sex with her.

Polanski was initially indicted on six felony counts and faced up to life in prison. Instead, he pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and the other counts were dismissed.

The maximum sentence he could have faced was 50 years, although prosecutors had said at the time that the typical sentence was 16 months to three years in prison.

This rape took place 8 years after the brutal murder of Polanski's 8.1/2month pregnant wife with 3 friends as one of the victims of The Manson 'Family'.

Sharon Tate's death struck a particularly chilling cord for me as she was a mere 3 years and 2 days older than I and strikingly similar to my partner at the time. I well remember both the killings as they unfolded and the enormity of the crimes as the 9 utterly pointless cult murders passed through the Courts.

The chilling frisson that the girls in the Manson cult were all about my age and the casual manner in which they related the murders.

I noted last Thursday that Susan Atkins had died in prison of complications following a long developing brain cancer and wryly thought that was there a time when her brain was not a cancer!

I seem to have reached that age where funerals are more common than weddings! It was sad to see Farrah slip away after such a brave fight the other day and I could name all too many more!

Then when Roman Polanski was arrested I paused for thought - here was this tortured tiny dynamo and at 76 a part of his life had caught up with him!

Susan Atkins last parole application was turned down on 02-Sep-2009 and having been born 07-May-1948 sentenced first to death on 01-Oct-1969 for her participation in 8 of the 9 Mason 'Family' killings, to which she pleaded guilty the sentence was commuted to life and as a result she was the longest serving femal prisoner in California when she died in prison on September 24, 2009 being some 85% paralysed, unable to sit up with an amputated leg and other complications of progressive brain cancer.

Susan Atkins chillingly indifferent testimony which you can read if you CLICK HERE may explain to you why I see no reason why she should have received one shred of compassion, nor can I understand her ability to have married twice during her prison sentence even enjoying conjugal visits - what compassion did she show when participating in 8 of the known killings of 'The Family'.


Lynette Alice "Squeaky" Fromme (born October 22, 1948) is an American who is a former member of the Manson Family. She was sentenced to life imprisonment for attempting to assassinate U.S. President Gerald Ford in 1975. After serving 34 years in custody, she was released from prison on August 14, 2009.

As of September 2009, Charles Manson, Charles 'Tex' Watson, Patricia Krenwinkel, and Leslie Van Houten remain incarcerated, each having failed to obtain parole more than a dozen times since becoming eligible

"So the Big Three adjourned to meet at Wilson's house in the Place des Etats-Unis or in Lloyd George's nearby flat or in Clemenceau's room at the Ministry of War. There they abandoned Wilson's principle of open covenants openly arrived at, consulting others only when they needed expert advice. Engaged in their immense haggle, they were occasionally to be seen crawling around their maps on the hearth rug. Sometimes they agreed and, according to Balfour, "were so pleased with themselves for doing so that they quite forgot to tell anyone what the agreement was." Sometimes they almost came to blows. Andre Tardieu observed their different styles of argument. "Sitting bolt upright in his chair", Wilson debated like a college professor. Lloyd George "argued like a sharp-shooter, with sudden bursts of cordial approval and equally frequent gusts of anger, with a wealth of brilliant imagination and copious historical reminiscences". Clemenceau "proceeded by assertions, weighty, rough-hewn and insistent". Against such granite obstinacy the darting manoeuvres of the British Prime Minister made only limited headway, as Clemenceau's dismissive comment suggests: attending an opera he murmured, "Figaro here..., Figaro there...he's a kind of Lloyd George". Even the Puritan tenacity of the American President was gradually eroded, a process which incensed his fellow negotiators. Finding the ubiquitous Colonel Edward M House, Wilson's familiar, easier to deal with, Clemenceau was delighted when the American President fell ill. He suggested that Lloyd George should bribe Wilson's doctor to make the malady last.

Still, despite anguished last-minute protests from Lloyd George himself, they finally arrived at an agreement, though the effort to represent it as the outcome of his principles strained even Wilson's powers of sophistry. Germany's colonies were to be confiscated, Britain and France getting the lion's share, Japan receiving some Pacific leftovers. Annexation was disguised by making the colonies "mandated territories"; in theory they were to be held in trust, a shadow of Wilson's hope that their control would be vested in the League of Nations. Germany was forced to admit war guilt, symbolised by the black crosses (for shame) which had to be erected over German war graves, as opposed to the white crosses (for purity) in French cemeteries. Heavy reparations were imposed, despite Wilson's earlier determination to eschew punitive damages. Germany was also to be surrounded by small states fashioned from the ruins of the Habsburg and Romanov empires, despite Lloyd George's warning that he could not "conceive any greater cause of future war". On paper, Poland, Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia were unified self-determining nations, but their frontiers had been the subject of much controversy and all contained ethnic minorities, including Germans. Poland was to be given access to the sea via a contentious corridor which divided East from West Prussia and contained the newly created "free city" of Danzig. Another violation of the principles of democracy and nationality was the ban on Germany's uniting with Austria unless permitted to do so by the League of Nations, from which she was excluded. Finally, Germany was to be almost totally disarmed. It was stripped not only of its fleet but of its merchant marine. The Rhineland was to be neutralised and occupied for 15 years. The Saar coal-mining region also temporarily went to France, while Alsace and Lorraine were restored for good. When Clemenceau was asked whether the victorious Allies had forgotten anything, he replied: "Yes! We have forgotten something very important. We have forgotten to ask for the Kaiser's breeches."

Many Frenchmen might have taken that remark seriously, including Foch, who insisted that such mild provisions made war inevitable within a generation. Others reached the same conclusion for the opposite reason - that the terms were wickedly vindictive. William C Bullitt, for example, resigned from the American delegation in disgust, telling Wilson that he had delivered "the suffering people of the world to new oppressions, subjections and dismemberments - a new century of war". The eminent French diplomat Paul Cambon agreed: "Versailles had laid the foundations for "a just and durable war". Herbert Hoover was so agitated by terms that "contained the seeds of another war" that he went for an early morning walk in the deserted streets of Paris, where he encountered General Smuts and Maynard Keynes, each man instantly divining that the others were moved to be out at that hour by similar anxieties. Lloyd George himself believed that Versailles was more of a "hell-peace" than a "heaven-peace" and forecast that "we shall have to do the whole thing over again in twenty-five years at three times the cost".

THIS IS ME - so one observes that it was not only the Germans who bitterly resented Versailles, and not just a sprinkling of other Europeans who thought the terms a bit harsh - it was the men themselves involved in constructing the Treaty, and forcing Germany to sign who knew how deeply flawed it was, and who despite their genuine and entirely justified misgivings, nonetheless allowed it to pass into law - is this not what might be called a "death wish" or a deeply ingrained tendency to self-destruction? And not, I think, because they could not see, but because they were apparently powerless to act otherwise. Doesn't this suggest someone or something pulling their strings? Something or someone determined that WWI would not on any account be the "war to end all wars"?

"It had been a far from smooth ride....with Aneurin Bevan engaged for two years in a fierce war with the BMA. "The Act is part of the nationalisation programme which is being steadily pursued by the Government", that body's chairman, Dr Guy Dain declared in November 1946, the day after the National Health Service Bill received the Royal Assent. "What the Minister appears to have done is to have taken the Bill which we had partly fashioned and to have inserted into it the Socialist principles of State ownership of hospitals, direction of doctors, basic salary for doctors, and abolition of buying and selling of practices".

Feelings undoubtedly ran high - "We have not fought and won a war against dictatorship only to submit to it disguised as democracy of the Soviet pattern," protested J. S. Laurie, a GP in Fitzwilliam, Yorkshire.
At a BMA representative meeting barely a week before the NHS came into effect, a Scottish doctor argued that it might be necessary to form a trade union to protect the interests of doctors, given that "clearly, we must protect ourselves against the forces of tyranny so latent in a state service."

[THIS IS ME - Before many months had passed, there was already a growing shortfall in NHS funding from taxation, owing largely to the grossly underestimated take-up of services by the general public. The drug bill was already (in the late 40s/early 50s spiralling ever upwards, and the numbers who had secured dental and optical treatments were hugely higher than had been anticipated]

"Justifiably proud of his creation of the NHS, and still Minister of Health, he [Bevan] had been engaged since the previous autumn in a determined guerilla campaign to keep the service free. Prescription charges had been theoretically introduced after devaluation, but he had managed to stop them coming into operation. Now, in the spring of 1950 [this was just after the general election, when Labour was returned with a much reduced and now quite small majority], and in the uncomfortable position of being the principal scapegoat for Labour's electoral near-disaster, he prepared for a more protracted scrap as the issue returned to the fore.

"The essence of the case...was simple: the NHS was continuing dramatically to overshoot its spending estimates and could not be afforded unless charges were introduced - charges which Gaitskell believed to be right in principle as well as financially necessary. Bevan was adamant that the level of NHS spending would soon start to stabilise of its own accord, a view that most historians have endorsed.

{ME AGAIN - Bevan and Gaitskell fell out over NHS prescription charges, and charges for teeth and spectacles, and after that the entire matter became a cause of contention between two politicians jockeying for position - not a matter of the practicalities and necessities of financing the service - that's how I read it. As a result, nobody has EVER really tackled the root problem, which is, and was even before the NHS was expected to provide such "services" as sex-change operations and breast enhancements, that the funding from taxation of the service has NEVER been a practical possibility - it was always going to cost vastly more than taxation could supply, and as we now see, when prescription charges have been levied for years and always increasing in cost, they will never come close to closing the gap between outgoings and taxation income, which gap has been increasing steadily and at ever increasing pace since its inception.}

One (STILL ME) other matter of interest along similar lines - the Barnett formula which laid down the cost to the British (mainly English) taxpayers of keeping Scotland in the Union was a formula for buying the Scots compliance, since it provided far more generous government financial support for every man, woman and child in Scotland than was available for those in England and Wales who were expected to pay for it. Barnett knew when he formulated the agreement that it was necessary to retain Scotland as part of the Union agreement, and since this is what he was expected to do, he duly did it. But he also knew at the time that it would HAVE to be adjusted in the course of time, and he has recently said publicly that it SHOULD have been revised downwards many years ago...needless to say, nobody's going to tackle that, particularly at a time when Scotland is growing more and more restive about ties with England. It still provides a reason for Scotland to refrain from breaking the Union, but it also gives particularly the English taxpayers very good reason to nurture a growing resentment of and hostility to Scotland. This is entirely the fault of the treacherous jellyfish who masquerade as politicians in the Westminster Parliament.

WHY IRISH POLITICIANS WANT A YES VOTE become pretty damned obvious when you consider the calibre of some of their ministers and the fact that the Oireactes (The Museum of Democracy in Leinster House) no longer makes law and could easily be replaced with one man with a rubber stamp rubber stamping EU diktat, since 80% of all laws enacted by The Oireachtes are just rubber stamping EU diktat and the balance 20% MUST be compliant with EU law.

Probably Ireland is better off as a vassal state governed by a foreign power but unlike during their governance by Britain at least it was a benevollent and participatory Governance rule by The EU is of course utterly alien and reduces Ireland to being little more than a pimple on the edge of the backside of the EU with absolutely no democratic influence ever again once the politicians dupe them into selling out their Country with a YES vote.

Reading this article below about Ireland's employment Minister Mary Coughlan on has to wonder if it was just for cheaper labour and property in Poland that Dell dumped Ireland and when will Intel quit and Ryanski Air become the carrier of choice as a matter of simple Einstinian Evolution or as Darwin put it in the 1850s 'its all a matter of relativity'?

The gaffe-prone minister was left red-faced after she erroneously referred to the theory of evolution as having been formulated by Einstein.

To make matters worse, the Enterprise, Trade and Employment Minister had just mentioned the Government's strategy of Building Ireland's Smart Economy.

Speaking without notes to an invited audience of entrepreneurs to promote IDA Ireland's "aggressive" new campaign to market Ireland aboard, Ms Coughlan touched on the idea of the survival of the fittest.

She said the IDA would be marketing Ireland as the innovation island -- "like Einstein explaining his theory of evolution".

Theory

The scientific basis for evolution, which has moved from theory to accepted truth, was first promulgated by Charles Darwin in his 1859 book 'On the Origin of Species'.

Ironically, Darwin's profile has never been higher, with many commemorative events this year to mark the 200th anniversary of his birth and the 150th anniversary of his landmark work.

Einstein, born 70 years after Darwin, formulated the theory of relativity in the last century to explain concepts of how time and space blur the laws of physics. It has nothing to do with survival of the fittest.

It was Ms Coughlan's second gaffe in a week -- after she referred to the Green Party in a radio interview in Irish as "na Glasrai", instead of "An Comhaontas Glas". The phrase "na glasrai" means "the vegetables".

A spokesman for the Tanaiste said last night: "Yes, it was said. Darwin was evolution and Einstein was relativity -- we all read our science books in school."

For Britain's brave band of pro-Europeans, the headline results of the 2009 European elections brought no joy whatsoever. The eurosceptic Conservatives finished first with 26 seats, followed by the anti-European United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) in second place with 13 seats, and the euro-timid Labour Party in third on the same number of seats but a lower percentage of the vote.

Indeed, of the top six political parties only my own (the Liberal Democrats) fought the election on a proudly pro-European platform and we ended the night in fourth place with 11 seats. Britain has sent 15 MEPs to Brussels who proudly proclaim their wish to see their country leave the European Union. We all know that in the privacy of the private bars and salons of Brussels, many Conservatives will be speaking in similar terms. Even for a politician, it is hard to put a positive spin on the outcome of the June ballot.

Just howmuch can the EU shark swallow and just what will happen when it dies?

I thought the summary on the relevance of The Irish Constitution etc. might prove of wider interest than on merely The Irish Politics Forum on which I post. This has been a lengthy conversation over a day or two which can be followed if you CLICK HERE under the subject 'A self-amending treaty'.

You may wish to join in as a contributor on the Forum which has a wealth of information and is very active with almost 20,000 members, many of whom are well known and many well informed whilst there are the normal salaries infiltrators defending positions at the troughs on the Gravy Train!

Hi,

my apologies as I have not the time to give chapter and verse - nor do I place much validity on any paper work as drawn up by The ENARCs and bureaucrats of Brusells.

Let us rather look at the facts:

Firstly much of the New Lisbon Constitution has already been implemented since the rejection by France and The Dutch. Even more has just rolled ahead regardless of signature since The Irish rejection.

It has been clearly promised that the concept does not implement a State in its own right - yet it now has its own flag, its own anthem, its own EU wide armed police force (EUroPol - HQ the old Gestapo HQ in The Hague!), its own centrally controlled Rapid Repression Force, central control of agriculture fisheries and of course law, with its own courts backed by pan EU arrest warrants.

Which bits have I missed and what had you missed? Oh yes an EU wide surveillance system with Galileo which is now of no military value since some school kids in America broke all its codes with equipment bought in Tandy! Such that the Chinese have effectively pulled out and it seems had their money compensated by GIVING them a fleet of the near unsaleable AirBuses.

Of course I say unsaleable as it has only been EU flag carriers that seem to have purchased to keep the entire subsidised and grossly over budget scam staggering forward and of course Thai Air but I gather they were forced to buy as they were told that the standards of import of shell fish and chickens to the EU would be raised to a level they could not supply unless they bought an AirBus or two.

Sorry back to where does it say the Irish Constitution is now irrelevant:

Perhaps it had escaped your notice any Irish Referendum which does not supply the result the unelected allien central bureaucracy requires must be held again.

What use is the protection of a National Constitution by referendum when the result of the referendum is utterly invalid unless it delivers the result required by your masters!

Perhaps you have not watched the video on YouTube of Pottiger boasting on the floor of the EU's pretend parliament of how over 80% of all laws in the whole EU are made by the EU.

Wriggle, squirm and dissemble all they like to hide the facts - Ireland no longer has ANY legal status other than as GRANTED by the undemocratic EU.

Irish currency is controlled by the ECB and it can not be controlled either by taxation or interest rates without permission. Ireland has absolutely no control over its own fisheries and even less over its farming or borders.

Limerick House is nothing more than The Museum of Irish Democracy - the Museum committee can change laws on litter and admission charges but even licensing laws can be referred to The EU's Courts to overturn local Irish decisions, just as can be minimum wages and how long will the EU tollerate abortion tourism? You will note that Britain has been trying to prevent 22 week + abortions being carried out on British citizens in Spain etc. etc.

Sadly, as one may wish it otherwise, I have as yet not seen or been informed of, by someone trustworthy of repute, a single benefit of the existence of the EU which is not massively outweighed by the obscene and dishonest costs both in terms of loss of assetts such as fisheries and freedom and direct financial cost.

You may have heard that during the present plennary in the EU it is intended to open the borders of the EU to permit the entry of peoples of the 3rd. world, the logic seems to be that if we let them in legally then there will be less ilegal entry!! Pure Alice in Wonderland logic!!!

Where will Ireland house its quota and what pressure will that put on housing? Interestingly in Britain I gather it will necessitate the building of ever more houses in the potential flood planes!

Can you for one moment explain how with Lisbon ratified the undemocratic central bureaucracy will be able to implement ANY procedure when 27 vassal states try to bandy their own Constitutions as a right to ignore the EU - Dream on!

I believe the document is a farce and the vote is an irrelevancy where a NO vote will require another vote in the spring when yet more of Lisbon has already been implemented keep voting NO and you will note that decisions can be made by the Council of the EU - Have you not read '1984', 'Animal Farm' or 'Brave New World' - did you not see the movie 'Logan's Run'?

The polar bears that climate change alarmists claim are endangered by global warming are doing just fine, thank you.

Al Gore and other alarmists have warned that higher global temperatures due to greenhouse gases could lead to the melting of the polar ice caps. That would threaten the polar bears' efforts to find food and survive.

But due to colder than usual subarctic weather this year, healthier polar bears are being spotted along the Hudson Bay coast in Canada, according to a release from PR Newswire.

"The late break-up of ice this year on Hudson Bay means the polar bears, which rely on sea ice to live, have been given more time during spring and summer to hunt and eat seals, and this has allowed them to gain important weight to live off of until freeze-up," said Robert Buchanan, president of Polar Bears International.

Daryll Hedman, a regional wildlife manager for Manitoba Conservation in Canada, said polar bears remain on the Hudson Bay ice for as long as possible so they can feed, and this year the ice was so thick that they stayed there for an extra two weeks, resulting in fatter, healthier bears this summer.

On a related front: With many Democrats still clamoring for cap-and-trade legislation to curb carbon emissions in response to global warming fears, the outgoing leader of the environmental group Greenpeace has retracted an assertion about Arctic ice.

In a July 15 release entitled "Urgent Action Needed as Arctic Ice Melts," Greenpeace said there will be an ice-free Arctic by the year 2030 due to global warming.

Under questioning by BBC reporter Stephen Sackur, Gerd Leipold, the retiring Greenpeace leader, stated, "I don't think it will be melting by 2030 . . . That may have been a mistake."

Hi,

as we remember the day 70 years ago when our enemies in Germany, Austria, Italy and shortly after Vichy France, whilst the peoples of Spain and Portugal dublicitously aided our old enemies and much of Scandinavia sat on their hands and encashed on the war as did the Swiss.

We should remember the tremendous value of our friends and alies around the world of many colours and numerous creeds, without whose help these United Kingdoms would have fallen to a centralised, largely militarised Union across Europe with all the evils that brings as we are now finding out!

We sadly could not enjoin in war for our alies in Czechoslovakia due to the foolish stance of our political leaders who had permitted our arms to run down in their venal persuit of popular spending.

That Nevile Chamberlain is seen as an apeaser rather than the willey old fox he was is such a travesty. He went with his secretary Alec Douglas Hume to Munich - fortunately they had managed to keep Winston Churchill silent for almost 2 years and kept him off of the airwaves or by the time they went to Munich it is probable Churchill would already have lost the war!

Chamberlain came down the steps waving his agreement stating 'Peace in our times' as he and Hume got into a Ministerial car and swept off to Downing Street where as he walked in on the Cabinet meeting that had been called to hear his news - Lord Hume told me many years later that before Chamberlain had removed his coat he said 'Gentlemen there will be war and I have bought us some time, whilst someone finds Alex and I a cup of tea your thoughts gentlemen must be turned to armament as arm we must' or words to that effect - that dinner with Lord Hume was on the overnight express Kings Cross to Inverness about 45 years ago!

When war was declared on September 1st. 1939 we were joined by 150,000 Poles whose sons and grandchildren are the much vaunted plumbers of today!! We were soon joined by the Rajputs, The Sihks, Gujerrats, Patans, Punjabis and their fellows, without whom we WOULD have lost and it is their proud sons and grandchildren we demean as Pakis.

It wasn't just in WWII that these peoples came to our aid but as with the Smalis who came to man our docks in 1914, and the West Indians who stood by us and remember too the Askari, The Zulus, Bosman and Shonna, with Nigerians, Rhodesians, Ghanaians and many others who stood by us - it was not JUST Australians & New Zealanders in those landings on The Dardanells in WWI nor Brits in Burma and Bengazi with many a Libyan and Morroccan, Berber & Taureg who saved this Country for us!

We scorn the 'multi-culti' at our peril - often it is the hoodlums on the football terraces we would be better off without whilst we welcome Phillipino nurses, Polish care workers, Indian nursing staff, Iranian, Pakistani, Indian and Bangladeshi Doctors.

That the BNP and their vile associates have gone to The EU in their ignorance perhaps they could concentrate on limiting the influence of our historic enemies whilst we once more learn the lessons of Chamberlain:
for 'Gentlemen there will be war and I have bought us some time, whilst someone finds Alex and I a cup of tea your thoughts gentlemen must be turned to armament as arm we must'.

I too am off for a cup of tea before bed as I've run out of steam for the moment!

May I leave you to read the letter below - perhaps you could pass it on to any friends you have who have been beguilled by The BNP who so readily hide their vile origins and their refusal to denounce the practices of their sordid associates in the American White Supremacist movement and their sport of hunting and hanging mostly young men BECAUSE they are black and killing them for fun. Or their vile associates who denounced and persecuterd Jews with the aid and funding of Lady Birdwood.

Let us not for a moment forget the great assistance we received from the entire Anglosphere in WWI, WWII and Korea at very least.

Thank you all and those brave men and women who risked their lives, many losing them, so that Britain could be free, self determined, independent, sovereign and a haven - May I apologise to all who have come to my Country and have faced persecution because British is NOT a colour, nor a Creed, belief or superstition - It is an understanding of values!

May I thank Mr. Moszynski, Mr. Suchorzewski and it was my privilege to seve with the son of Colney Dudzinski who led the last cavalry charge against tanks, also perhaps you might remember Bosman who worked for me and proudly showed me his British War Medals earned as a tracker in North Africa and although it was a pittance his war pension meant so very much to him when Callaghan's Government stopped it to our shame!

SIR – Today, as most people know, marks the 70th anniversary of the invasion of Poland and the start of the Second World War.

Less well known is that Poland was the only nation to fight by Britain’s side from the first day of the war to the last, suffering the highest loss of population of any country’s.

After the fall of Poland, over half a million Poles found a way to continue to fight under British command – from 303 Squadron (which shot down the highest tally of German aircraft in the Battle of Britain), to the men of General Anders’s 2nd Corps who captured Monte Casino.

After six years of desperate struggle, these brave men and women saw their country lose its freedom to the Soviet Union, which had conspired with the Nazis to invade Poland on September 17.

Over 150,000, including my late father, Captain Stefan Moszynski, were grateful to a war-torn Britain for giving them refuge, rather than face death or labour camps had they had to return to Poland.

You can therefore imagine the shock of Polish veterans today to discover young people in Britain asking whether Poland fought alongside Germany in the war.

Until now, there has been no national memorial to the Poles who fought under British command. This omission is finally being made good by the unveiling of the Polish War Memorial at the National Arboretum on September 19.

I would urge everyone to cherish the strong bond between our two countries.
