#G132* - ANOTHER DELUSIONAL ACADEMIC!

#G132* - ANOTHER DELUSIONAL ACADEMIC!

Hi,

here is a copy of a letter to The Times editor and some interesting facts from Ashley Mote who was elected as a UKIP MEP but soon resigned to continue doing some excellent work as an MEP as an Independent.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of the relationship with EUkip which so clearly went native there is absolutely no doubt that Ashley achieved much more than the EUkip MEPs who remained. Astonishingly he asked more written questions than did ALL of EUkip's residual MEPs put together, as of course did the other UKIP MEP who stepped out, once he realised he had been lied to by Nigel Farage, namely Robert Kilroy Silk.

Your article in The Times on 5 June was of particular interest to me as a long-time critic of the EU who has just completed a five-year fixed term in a grandstand seat in the European Parliament.

Over those few years my postbag has been filled with letters of frustration, anger and complaint from constituents in the south-east of England, and I have been horrified at how little was possible to assist them. The EP is no more than an elaborate and expensive charade – a talking shop offering an illusion of accountable parliamentary democracy when it is nothing of the sort. If anything, the recent elections were another monstrous deceit on British voters. The structure of the EU’s institutions does not allow elected members to interfere in any meaningful way with bureaucrats’ plans. Most importantly it cannot repeal what passes in the EU for legislation.

A few examples:

1. The recent introduction of a directive severely limiting the use of pesticides in horticulture has already put out of business several growers in my former constituency. Others will follow. Yet the largely hidden reason for the ban was driven by a Danish commissioner with no knowledge of agriculture, and whose country wanted the ban because Danes do not process drinking water drawn from the land.

2. Mercury has been banned from use in the antiques barometer trade as part of a wider ban on its industrial use generally. At least one firm in my constituency has had to sack its entire work force. Yet, simultaneously, the EU has started enforcing the use of low energy light bulbs which cause all sorts of problems in certain industries and services (eg, care homes, where instantaneous good light is sometimes life-saving). And all these bulbs contain far more mercury and are far more dangerous for ordinary people to dispose of than the traditional bulbs they replace. Furthermore, there will be no net energy saving – the “justification” used for the change.

3. Junior doctors are being prevented by the Working Hours Directive from working sufficient hours to learn the skills they need to become specialist consultants in key areas like surgery. It is entirely possible that somebody somewhere will die in future because their doctor was simply not experienced enough to save their life.

4. The European Safety Aviation Agency removed the air-worthiness certificates of all small specialist manufacturers of on-board equipment within days of being set up in 2004. In the UK that affected hundreds of companies and thousands of jobs. When I and the MD of one such firm in my constituency flew to Cologne to meet the German MD and his French so-called “technical director” (both career bureaucrats) to ask for an explanation they both admitted they had not understood the consequences of their decision. The MD also boasted that he had never even been to Britain and knew next to nothing of the UK aviation industry.

Do I really have to go on?

You seem to think the EU is reformable. But read the treaties. It has become what it was intended to be. Lisbon (code for the Constitutional Treaty) creates a new EU quite different from the present one, despite the name being the same. That is part of the deceit. It gives legal personality to this institution, and turns the nation states into regions of a new country with a unitary system of bureaucratic government. And this will be the last treaty because it includes self-amending powers and the specific authority to introduce EU-wide taxation.

This will be the end of the salami-slicing. If Lisbon is ratified the drapes will fall and this new entity will be paraded to the world for what it is – and what its supporters planned all those decades ago. This climax will have been achieved by deception and against the will of many millions of people who were never told the truth, and never asked for their approval.

As a senior commercial lawyer who has grappled with the EU and its earlier incarnations for decades once said to me, the EU is “irredeemably corrupt and beyond reform”. I have written extensively about EU corruption but will skip over that gigantic problem on this occasion.

Early in your article in The Times you claimed that “the EU is our biggest trading partner”. No qualification; just a bald statement. But incorrect. Well over 80% of all UK trade is done within the UK. The EU is not, or should not be, involved. Britain is global player. Most EU countries trade amongst themselves. We and the Irish are fundamentally different, and restoring that difference is vital to our future prospects.

By far the bulk of our exports go to the rest of the world, most notably the sphere which might be described broadly as anglo-saxon.

It is only when considering imports that the EU leaps ahead. We import far more than we export to EU countries. Bar one year, we have had a permanent trade deficit with the EU ever since we joined.

In other words, in trade terms they need us far more than we need them. So the assumption that we would have to toe the line if we left is sheer nonsense. Can you imagine Mercedes Benz refusing to sell us cars, or the French stopping shipments of Champagne? Will the Spanish refuse to accept holiday bookings, or the Danes withhold their bacon?

Any British prime minister with the wisdom, authority and stature of a statesman (don’t hold your breath) should tell the EU that they will be free to sell their goods to the UK as before, when we leave and take our billions with us. But we will accept no restrictions on trade in either direction – take it or leave it. Next day he might despatch navel gun boats to patrol a 200-mile/median exclusion zone around the British Isles and give the British fishing industry a fighting chance to restore itself to its rightful place in a maritime nation.

Finally, I leave you with a summary of the reasons why the UK should never have joined the EU in the first place, and why we should now leave and trade with them as friends and neighbours. They cannot be masters in someone else’s house. Which brings us back to the Lisbon Treaty.

When, ever before, has a sovereign nation permitted outsiders to write and impose a new constitution except after defeat in war?

The UK, uniquely, is constantly being asked to change almost every important aspect of our culture, traditions and way of doing things. We are - and always have been – a British square peg in a European round hole.

In the UK, the state draws its powers from, and answers to, the people. In the EU, the state exists in its own right and the people answer to it.

Here, our rights and freedoms are our birthright. In the EU, they are granted and removed by the state.

Here, everything is permitted until our elected parliament decides otherwise. In the EU, everything is implicitly forbidden unless the state decides to allow it.

Here, our market economy is based on free enterprise. In the EU, the market is governed by social factors.

Here, we have the common law safeguards of Habeas Corpus, trial by jury and the presumption of innocence. The EU uses the Napoleonic system of criminal law. It provides no such safeguards against the oppression of the state.

Here, we uphold and respect the rule of law, at least in part because we can change it at any time. In the EU, there is less respect for the law, because it is almost impossible to change.

Here, the police exist to uphold the law and the armed forces to defend the realm. In the EU they both exist as arms of the state.

Here, we do not tolerate fraud and corruption in public office or anywhere else. In the EU, it is endemic and accepted as part of the system.

The Lisbon Treaty, and the Constitutional Treaty which it is in all but name, has done us a great service. It crystallises these great issues.

If you have, thank you for reading this far.

And just in case you are wondering, I am happy to debate these matters with you or your students at any time.

‘The arrogance and hubris of corrupt politicians
will be responsible for every drop of blood spilt
in the Wars of Disassociation, if Britain does not
leave the EU.

The ugly, centralised, undemocratic supra national policies being imposed by the centralised and largely unelected decisionmakers of The EU for alien aims, ailien values and to suit alien needs stand every possibility of creating 200,000,000 deaths across EUrope as a result of the blind arrogance and hubris of the idiologues in the central dictatorship, and their economic illiteracy marching hand in glove with the idiocy of The CAP & The CFP - both policies which deliver bills, destroy lives and denude food stocks.

The EU, due to the political idiocy and corruption of its undemocratic leaders, is now a net importer of food, no longer able to feed itself and with a decreasing range of over priced goods of little use to the rest of the world to sell with which to counter the net financial drain of endless imports.

British Politicians with pens and treachery, in pursuit
of their own agenda and greed, have done more
damage to the liberty, freedoms, rights and democracy
of the British peoples than any army in over 1,000 years.

The disastrous effects of British politicians selling Britain
into the thrall of foreign rule by the EU for their own
personal rewards has damaged the well-being of Britain
more than the armies of Hitler
and the Franco - German - Italian axis of 1939 - 1945.
